Thanks, odd looking Ducks. Had another pair of the Canada Geese show up yesterday. The 5 little Gooses were still alive yesterday afternoon.

We had a couple that would show up at dusk at our yard and hammer the bugs under our lights until early morning then head out only to show up the next evening...they got so used to us we could walk by then at less than 5’ and they wouldn’t pay us any attention... Only time I ever encountered nocturnal ducks....was cool having them around...

I've never seen them funny looking ducks before. It's cool, though. I'd appreciate any kind of wildlife on my place, if I had one, lol.
Mmmm Hmmm

They are down here from the summer into mid November and I have seen as many as 35 in one bunch. They will hit every corn feeder around the area have the exact times they go off down to a tee. You see them show up couple of minutes early when the feeder is about to go off. They are as bad as turkey on corn and can pick up every grain of corn in no time. I have to put out way more corn than the deer will eat when they have my hunting times down. In your experience do they deter the deer?

I have to put out way more corn than the deer will eat when they have my hunting times down. In your experience do they deter the deer? You know at first when it was only 2-4 of them, the deer did not react to them flying in. But as the numbers have grown the deer definitely do react to them when the fly in. When the deer are at the feeder the ducks will make a lot of passes then just about land and then take off. The constant circling and attempts to land seem to spook the deer off after a while from all the racket from them. The deer that do stay or move in later will feed around the edges away from them. One thing I know that will keep them off of the feeders though is a bobcat. I had a bobcat that is a regular at my house feeder and seen him carrying off a live freshly caught Whistling Duck last year in June. That bobcat gets a lifetime pass.
