Haven’t done one or seen one so I couldn’t say but that sure sounds expensive if you have to take it to the dealer.

If you have a hydraulic press and the stuff to use to get the old bearing off and a new one on go for it. If not take it to get done. A while back I had to change the rear wheel bearing on a ford 2000 tractor. It took me two days just to make the tools to do it. If I knew someone around here who could have done it I would have taken it to them.

don k, getting the bearing off of the Tundra rear axle is not a simple process per what I have been told. I am not a mechanic but have talked to a couple. Apparently it takes a special tool to press the bearing on & off. A $300 tool. I have found someone with the equipment & knowledge to get it done.

I said if you don't have the tools or capability then get some one to do it. I could not find anyone to replace mine so i had to make the tools myself. Here is what it took not counting the hyd. press. Plus a cutting torch, grinders, cut off saw, welder and assorted tools. Glad you found some one. I wish I could have.
