My daughter is most likely moving to San Diego from DFW this summer and we need to get her car to SD.

Anyone have recommendations for a transport company?

Rather just ship her car than deal with the gas, hotel, return plane trip, etc....

Thanks.

You can get some rough ideas with www.UShip.com Using a dedicated vehicle transport service will run you $700+

Appreciate it. I did a few online quotes and got about that cost. Just don't know one company from another and wanted to see if someone had experience and a name to give me.

My wife used to work for dependable Auto Shippers. They seem to be a good company.

Is your daughter's car going to be able to pass CA emissions tests?

How is she going to get the rest of her stuff out there? when my Sister moved back to Dallas from Raleigh NC the movers just put her car in the same truck as her furniture.

I see no reason why it would not. 2013 Kia Forte with no issues. Long story short, getting married to a new Marine in SD. She is in college, so no furniture, etc.

We are still trying to figure some things out. It is all good, just trying to figure out logistics.

Annual car registration in California is not cheap.

sell here and replace there, probably won't lose as much as the shipping costs.

There are online estimators. Relative to Texas, yes, it's a lot of money but in the grand scheme it's not going to be much [for the daughter's specified vehicle].

One thought I had was her keeping it registered in TX. I've been out of the military for 20 years, but back in the stone ages if you were military you could keep your former state's DL and vehicle reg. Of course we are talking about Commiefornia, so i'm sure it is totally different.

Once again thanks for all the responses. yes I thought about the road trip aspect of it, but I am saving all my vacation time for the hunting season. I have a new lab pup that I will spend a lot of time with this fall . [Linked Image]

She should be able to keep her Texas registration. With Dyess AFB here, over time we see plates from every state.
