Solution: Northern Tool, kit for $279.00. Even without a deck, very rigid, squared up nicely. I got about 2 hours in the assembly. As is, it's 40" x 48". I'll deck it to be 40" x 60" and add eye bolts on the corners for tie downs. [Linked Image]

Great Solution. Looks like the perfect size trailer for what you want to do.

Yeah. Took it for a dry run, backed it out of the drive way, around my wifes Yukon and some trash cans. The trash cans got the worst of it. It definitely pivots.

Notice the 3 bolt heads on each side of the frame. Also, the interior frame rails fit inside, creating a raised edge of about 1/8" on each side that will put the deck boards on an uneven plane. Set blade height on your table saw equal to the width of the side frame rail. Turn the board on edge, and make two blade width passes. Then, you have the bolt heads to deal with. Hit them with some spray paint, set your board in place and transfer the wet paint to the board. A 1" paddle bit right there, with a depth equal to the height of the bolt head and you're good to go. As thin as that stuff is I would get a piece of pipe that fits inside of the square tube. Run it all the way in to the axel. Bolt it to the tube and bolt the hitch on.

Or just get a longer piece of tube and replace the current one....

Fairly easy fix either way....

I have one very similar. It was bought at Walmart in Palestine Texas in 1997 for $99. It use to have lights and fenders but those things have a way of disappearing after dragging it through the brush for over 20 years! LOL! Its on its second set of tires and third set of wood. One of my best purchases ever!!

Picture of the year right there. BTW, I slimed the tires of course.

LOL! That was one of the big boys I was after last year. His ankles were so big I couldn't grip them with my hands to drag him up on that trailer. I ended up flopping him over on a ladder and then lifting the top of the ladder up on the trailer as you see on the picture and then lifting the bottom end of the ladder and sliding him up on the trailer like sliding a stretcher into a ambulance.

And YES slime is a must!!!! Your tires will find every thorn and cactus in Texas I promise you!

Great story. Hunters gotta be ingenious. Often alone, without every convenience, we figure out a way to get it done. From cooking, staying warm, building stands, places to sleep we always find a way. This hog loading method right here is at the top of all time solutions.

I'm considering a hand winch on a stand mounted on the front corner. I may need to get a beast like JCB's loaded up and won't have a ladder with me.

No need for a ladder. Run you some rope or a strap to those back two eyelets, lay the rope straight out behind the trailer, set the hog on top of the rope, then pick up the rope and roll him in. There used to be a video of a guy doing it with a deer and it seemed to work really well. I'll see if I can dig it up somewhere.

Edit: found the link. I'd skip all the fancy straps like this guy has since you'll be loading much lower to the ground, but with just two ropes or straps you should be able to just roll it up on the trailer.
Here you go

Unhook trailer stand it up on end by the hog strap the hog to the trailer then tip it back down on its axle. That's how I load bear on to mine. We have even stood the 4 wheeler up on the back rack strapped them to the rack and tip it back down on the wheels. Trailer works a lot easier

I was half a-- kidding. But my plan for a big boy is to stand up on the trailer, near the front where it is low and have a chain with a quick link going through both hocks, get as much of him as I can drug up on the trailer and start the ratchet strap hooked from the back and take up slack. If I can get him started I should be able to get it loaded. Worst case, if he's huge and I can't handle him I'll drag it up a hill, position trailer under and let him roll. I'll be sure and post a video if I survive.
