I tried for both fishing & hunting, but in my opinion, it becomes more of a chore for me. It sometimes even got in the way.
I was using a GoPro knockoff that I saw on Amazon for $60. I'm sure everyone will recommend GoPro or something similar.

Ill do it if I am with someone as it's easier to be camera ready instead of worrying about if the camera is focused and what not, especially if the animal you are looking at isn't really standing still.

No, but I've thought about it. However I don't know if worrying about the camera & focus would take away from the joy of the hunt.

Ive never done it. I have an uncle that does. His videos are hilarious.... Always seemed like too much of a hassle to try and do it myself. Might work better with someone else running the camera

No, but I've thought about it. However I don't know if worrying about the camera & focus would take away from the joy of the hunt. There are lots of ways to enjoy hunts. Videoing a hunt usually means a whole new set of considerations that must be accounted for which some people definitely will not enjoy. Others will just see it as a challenge. Sometimes, it is like bringing along a new hunter for the first time. Things go wrong that you would have never anticipated, or if you did, happen at inappropriate times.

I video all my thermal hunts and just got a Tactacam 5.0 for daytime hunts. I'll post results when I try it out. I used a GoPro Hero 3 Black for a Canadian black bear hunt and an elk hunt and wasn't happy.

I did it once I propped up my I phone on the tripod. When a group of pigs came out I laid into them a shotgun and buckshot. Bamm, bamm, bamm, bamm.. the carnage was beautiful. I got great video of the sky, the ground, the sky... My phone was knocked loose on the first shot and went tumbling to the ground. Never tried again.

I did way back in the day when 8mm tape was the bid thing. I had cases of video from all over the place, and just a few months ago, I finally threw them all away, along with the camera that has been sitting for well over a decade. It's like having your wedding filmed. Sounds like a great idea at the time, but you never ever watch it. Now I do a few quick video clips to post on Youtube or Facebook to share with friends, but then forget about them. Here's one of my wife's first hog https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ftw2haFhi8o

I have videoed hogs using my phone. I will do it when they are coming in to the feeder and milling around doing hog stuff. Don't video the shot.

Took a kid huntin a while back. Stalked a hog up to ten yards while on crawl below road dam. Peaked over at alert hog. He made the shot. Set a record on hog backards flip and Air Jordan status. flew up about 5 foot in the air. It was the hog that made the back feet jump not the pea shooter. Would of been a world famous video. 5 foot up and 10 foot backwards down till it landed in a swamp. No video sadly. Looked like a human doing it. Not a hog. Crazy and funny. First kill for the kid. Now he probably thinks all movie body flights after shot are real.
Recently got a gym membership, strange folks! I like to show up the roid zombies with my full motion curls with the 55lb. bells. Not their cheater short stroked light weights. It's holarious.

Nope. I would rather relive them in my memory than watch them on video.

I have a couple that a friend taped way back when. Other than that, haven't done any taping/videoing in over 20 years.

Never. I'm lucky if I remember to take a picture of the kill to remember the event.

I have thought about it and I have a camera that will take great videos but I never have taken any. I have a Canon 7D. It also takes great still pics so that is all that I do. I spend as much time hunting as I can and take a ton of photos when I get the opportunity. I have a camera with me 90% of the time in the blind hunting for whitetail or in my Ranger even when hunting for Mule Deer. I prefer still photos to videos so I can frame some for to put on the walls in my home or give to friends. I have done several coffee table photo albums also.

I've done it more and more. I enjoy it for the most part but it does add another dimension of stuff you have to pay attention too. I've used my phone and GoPro for the most part but both have their limitations. I don't know that I would get serious enough about it to get a good stand alone video camera to do it.

Got the Tactacam and... operator error. Got it to pair with tablet easily and while working on settings got the bright idea to update firmware. Tech folks said all 5.0's are shipped with updated firmware.... Groan. Unit froze and I removed battery. 2nd big mistake. Unit crashed and after talking to tech help, sent unit back and a new one is on it's way. BTW, tech help was really accommodating. Supposed to have replacement unit Friday so stay tuned for field trial......

I have a 7D as well, plus a Panasonic HDC-TM900. I've videoed a few hunts and a couple of me taking a doe or two. The 7D is way too heavy for me to lug around to the stand, but the Panasonic is much lighter, smaller, and takes great video and stills too. If I'm planning on shooting a video, I'll usually leave a lightweight tripod in the stand so it's ready when I am. I'd like to video a lot more.
