Anyone have a good outfitter for Wyoming pronghorn?

I'd like to get my feet wet up there, and that seems like a reasonably easy way to do it.

Thanks for any tips.

Pronghorn are a draw tag in Wyoming and most areas take a PP or 2 to draw. However some of the mostly private land areas can be drawn with 0 PP. No landowner tags up here can be transferred.
I have not hunted with any of these folks but they all outfit in SE Wyoming and should have access to decent hunting this year as our conditions are good for horn growth right now.
Look into the outfit mentioned above and Tyler Simms Outfitting, Bar-Nunn Outfitting and Triple Creek Hunts, Werner Ranch or Timberline Outfitters.

Ask whomever you call about odds of drawing with 0 PP.
Also some areas are having some winter kill, ask about conditions in their hunting areas.

Great bucks can be taken in almost any area so good luck !

Wytex is correct on the PP we had 4 points each and our draw was EZ with the points. Weather you hunt this year or not purchase a point when available this July. I assume your not hunting in 2019 because application deadline was the end of March.

App deadline is May 31 so still time.
I would apply for an area this year and get that PP then if not drawn look into the low PP areas for next year.
You do need to talk with outfitters now ,. before the draw. They will book fast after the draw.
Don't fall into the trap of thinking the good ares are beyond reach in points. Some great animals come off of low PP areas for all species- deer, elk and antelope. Access does vary for antelope considerably with lower PP areas though.

Lots of pronghorn in Wyoming, but there are also a lot of hunters and it's tough to find a really good one there. New Mexico will cost about the same, but with a lot better odds of getting a top quality animal and most outfitters will have tags for private land.

I don't agree but that's fine.
Great bucks in NM though , that I agree on.
You can look over tons of bucks in Wyoming before pulling the trigger.
Get an area with great access and you'll see many good bucks.
For a guaranteed tag NM is hard to beat , but prices for guided hunts are much higher from what I have seen. Hunted pronghorn SE of Raton one year and had a great time.
Did a pronghorn slam so to speak one year, hunted in Texas , NM, Colorado. and Wyoming. 4 bucks . All of the out of state hunts were guided, my biggest came from Wyoming that year, DIY.

Thanks for all the info, fellas.

I've hunted Texas my whole life and am just stretching my legs here for the first time.

So, in Wyoming, I have to draw a tag even if I hire an outfitter? The outfitters don't have tags? So my only option is to enter myself in the draw starting with 0 points? Do I have that correct?

If so, I may try to draw in NM and Wyoming.

Are there outfitter, landowner, or other over the counter tags in NM?

No guaranteed tags in Wyoming , all draw.
That is where NM has a big advantage for a no PP tag.
There are some great, huge antelope in NM but they cost a pretty penny to hunt in most outfitted hunts I've seen.
It is a very cool state to hunt also, scenery is awesome and much lower elevations for the most part. Our plains outside of Laramie are at 7,000ft +, no low elevation in Wyoming.

I would start building PP for Wyoming, apply this year for a good area, maybe get a random tag and do a DIY hunt. PP can be bought without applying in July.
Look into a NM hunt, don't know their app date though.
Colorado has some ways to get a non draw tag also, Ranching for Wildlife outfitters and landowner vouchers.

I drove through New Mexico a couple weeks ago and must have seen 1000 by the highways.
I probably could have hit them with a sling shot.

That’s where I would go.

I'll start trying to draw in WY this year and see what happens and/or if I can build up some points.

If NM is my best shot for this year, what's the best way to go about that? Just find an outfitter? Or do you try for a landowner tag? Is there any way to hook up with the landowners?

Don't be scared to DIY hunt it! Little research goes a long way and will get you off the beaten path. We went 4/4 last year in an area we have never stepped foot in. All public land, camped out and the smallest buck we killed was still over 70 and the biggest was 80".

Frankly, pronghorn pair up nicely for a combo hunt, elk or deer.
Also you can get in some bird hunting and great trout fishing on the same trip.

Interesting for me, NM antelope have a slightly shorter ear and will jump fences.
That is a nice buck.
Is the season still fairly short in NM, we get about a month in most areas and an archery season too on the one tag.
Our archery antelope seasons are in Aug for the most part and allow rifle hunting later if the tag is not filled during archery season.

I saw lots of cool things hunting pronghorn on Laughlin Peak. That country near Raton holds some interesting history.

You only get 3 days in New Mexico for rifle or muzzle loader, archery you get 8. Way shorter than Wyoming. But very high success rate, and if you can hold off the trophy potential is there.

If you are still looking to go to Wyoming and need a outfitter let me know. I have family that guides in Wyoming.

There you go, I would definitely call Dakota79's family and see what they have.

Don't forget you can get 2 doe tags for any areas in the state if wanted in first draw then 2 more in leftover draw . Doe tags are a random draw.

There are also a lot of pronghorn in Eastern Montana, but the trophy quality isn't going to be anywhere near what New Mexico is. I'm not sure about tags there, but when I hunted out of Broadus for mule deer, we where having to deal with pronghorn every day in figuring out how to get to the deer and not spook the goats.

A pronghorn Hunt is one of the easiest DIY western big game hunts out there. I would not be that concerned about hunting them with an outfitter. They are a fun animal to hunt, taste great and are good looking. Good luck on the search.

Some outfitters advertise 3 day hunts, need to ask what is a 3 day hunt?

Went on one hunt, the outfitter considered arriving in camp and checking rifles sight in as the first day of hunting.

Was a major disagreement in the camp.

Also was run off from one hunting area, found out we were trespassing on a private ranch. Guide was held accountable after talking with the land owner, we showed our drivers license and hunting license, we were from out of state.

That would be a good question for your outfitter. I would say arrive then hunt next 3 days.
For an outfitted or guided hunt get your outfitter or guide to write their license number and name on the back of your license. Even a rancher should be willing to do so. It is written in the regulations here :
Section 10. Placement of Name of Outfitter and Outfitter’s License Number on
Back of License. Any big or trophy game hunter utilizing the services of an outfitter shall
legibly print the name of the outfitter, the outfitter’s license number and the type of outfitter
license on the back of the licensee’s big or trophy game license

Ranchers who own or lease the land for agriculture do not have to have an outfitters license so I would write the ranch and landowners name down.
I'm not sure of a GW would even check the back of your license for the info but they may if encountered in the field.
