I kinda like the 30-30 case embedded in the handle.

Ok my descriptions didnt show up.
I make my own micarta. The black handle is made from black canvas from a pair of cargo pants from Goodwill. I am making 8 more for groomsman presents for my son's wedding. I also make my own sheaths.
The smaller EDC also has a micarta handle I made from green canvas. It went to my son.
The knife with the wood scales was also for son. I inlayed the end of a 30-30 cartridge from his rifle. It has a twin that went to my dad with Ash scales from a baseball bat.
I still fine tuning a lot of things but I am liking how they are turning out. The steel is very hard and a little challenging to put an edge on but boy are they sharp.
Thanks for the kind words.

What's on the other side of the 30-30 case?

I cut off the top of the cartridge, seated it in the wood and epoxyed it in place. There is one on both sides.

Very nice work sir. What's the process to turn canvas into micarta?

I learned on Youtube. Cut strips of any material really, I have seen paper used. I cut the canvas in strips, soaked it in fiberglass resin and put it in a small wooden press I made. I stacked about 10 to 15 layers then pressed the heck out of it with some C clamps. After it dries, it is very hard. I then attach the scales to the knife and shape with my belt sander.
