I made some hog stew today. It turned out well. Good flavor, and tender. Here is the recipe: dredge cubed hog meat in flour/dry rub. In crock pot put: one chopped onion, three stalks chopped celery, about one cup baby carrots, some cut up red potatoes, add meat, add about 2-3 cups water. Cook on low for at least eight hours. Note, I did not brown the meat, but could have. I bought some mushrooms, and forgot to add them. Beef broth could be used instead of water. I also added some salt and pepper.

In real cold weather sometimes my wife will add a package of taco or fajita seasoning mix to spice it up a little.

Brown that meat and it’ll reward you with pan drippings for a roux. I bet it’s still good though.

I'd add a package of onion soup mix and leave out the salt, on the other hand I'd eat the snot out of it just as it is.

Sounds good. Hard to beat any easy crock pot stew.
