both dogs were barking last night around 1:00AM, shined the spotlight and hit eyes. Ran inside, threw my jeans and boots on, grabbed my shotgun, with a red predator light attached. Got about 30 feet away from the fox, it was by the pond and i had the high ground.
Kaaaabooom, sent some Remington Express 20 pellet buckshot. Hit him right behind the left front shoulder, he ran about 3 yards and plowed into the ground... Here is a picture in the daylight before i fed him to the buzzards.

What was he hurting? Why did you shoot him? They’re pretty harmless unless he get in your chickens.

My grandfather just got 2 chickens and a coop. and he lives in a trailer house behind us.

Plus, we have cows,Fox carry diseases (Which several of our cows have) that K9's carry, called neospora, which causes the cows to abort their calves. and thats losing about $900 a calf when selling time comes. Its spread through K9 feces and urine.
And also my grandmother (Who lives about 4 houses down) losing ducks, guineas, and her chickens. So they've been hurting quite a bit.

That’s why I asked. Thank you for the solid answer. Had no idea they sickened cattle.

In your case nothing. Some folks though, will kill foxes, which are rare around here, and bobcats while they’re deer hunting. Those critters way out in the country are good critters to have around. Now, if you want a trophy to mount, I understand, but to kill and not recover gets my goat.

You though, had every right to protect your property. Good kill!

I do agree with you, i wouldn't kill them, but in the case the bad outweigh's the good. Fox do keep the field mouse population in check around here, and when the mice move into your barn, you need a cat ( we have one) and then sometimes the fox gets the cat.
I've seen some bobcats around here, and my brother has gotten trail cam pics of some on the east side of the county on our lease. I'll see if i can scrounge around and find a pic or two.

Yep, they were excited, if you can see the black dog behind me, he has gotten really good at handshaking, you walk by him and he raised his paw.
