Used solid and chunk light. Mixed in sweet relish, chopped onion, mayo, and a generous shake of black pepper. Done deal. On toasted bread with a slice of store bought tomato. Came out fine. Can't wait for my home grown tomatoes. That takes it from fine to greatness.

How do you make your tuna salad?

Pretty much like yours, but we just started adding a pinch of brown sugar to it. Try that.

Standard is much the same except add diced celery and use miracle whip. It is a salad after all.

If I'm really feeling one-uppity I'll dice some walnuts or pecans and put in there.

Add very thin slices of Jalapeno for me.

Same as you Bill, but I add celery like PK. Also a little lemon juice, some garlic powder and a little seasoned salt. Sometimes I'll add some minced capers. I eat tuna salad or chicken salad (no bread) for lunch 4 days a week.

I use Bumble Bee tuna /jalapenos. Mayonnaise, sweet pickle relish, chopped onions, chopped tomatoes, grated sharp cheddar(not prepackaged), chopped red cabbage or iceburg lettuce. Let it sit for at least an hour before eating.

The key to good tuna salad is to start with the best tuna. The wife and I only use Italian tuna in olive oil now. Jimmy's in Dallas carries Asdomar yellofin and it's our favorite. It is a noticeable difference in taste. It's more expensive, but well worth it.

As for substitutions, I'll sometimes use salmon rather than tuna.
It's good too.

As above with all the usual suspects. Tuna, chopped green olives, dill relish, chopped onion, boiled eggs, mayo, squirt of mustard.

One time when we did seared ahi steaks for dinner we had a couple good sized steaks left over. The next day I tossed 'em back on the grill to finish cooking them through and flaked it up for tuna salad. That was some amazing tuna salad. Expensive as hell, but really good!

I've added leftover fried fish. It was great with home grown tomatoes.

Same as yours Bill - but we add hard boiled eggs and finely diced celery. Regular pickle relish or chow-chow for us though.
