My podna has land in Bell County. Told him about it. He saw does every time he went out except on doe days. Go figure. Hope the proposals pass.

Doesn't say more does, just more days to hunt does.

That may be the way is was in 2018/2019 but I expect the change will be like it was done that hunting season in several other NE Texas. The first 16 days of the general season will be doe season if TPWD follows suit for the new counties.

Texas Parks and Wildlife is expanding doe days in 20 counties from four to 16 days beginning with the start of the general hunting season on Nov. 2. Those counties include: Bell (east of IH 35), Burleson, Delta, Ellis, Falls, Fannin, Franklin, Freestone, Hopkins, Hunt, Kaufman, Limestone, Milam, Navarro, Rains, Smith, Titus, Van Zandt, Williamson (east of IH 35), and Wood.

White-tailed deer hunters in 41 Texas counties total in the Blackland Prairies and Post Oak Savannah ecoregions will see expanded opportunities to take antlerless deer during the 2019-20 season, following changes adopted recently by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission.

Ha

It's a matter of tradition for you now. Use that.

Yes using the word tradition always works, sometimes always, most of the time.

Then try "Annual"

The "Annual Thanksgiving Weekend Deer Hunt"

It's got a nice ring to it

At least Fayette County joined in the new Doe Harvest with a 4 day hunt period at Thanksgiving. Need to clear up the tiny lease arrangements adjacent to the SinL's ASAP. When the in Laws owned the land the tiny lease was free to them to hunt year round for critters as long as they did not take but one Stud Hoss WT a year and no Does. I know she'd said the neighbors were unhappy at the news of even the possibility of a change in the Rules as they "just love to watch all THEIR girls and boys play grown up games from the back porch". Gonna be interesting dinner conversation when SinL is here for a couple days later this week.

I was hoping they'd run the doe days into February, for Runnels county. whistle

Still not killing any does in Fannin. Just my choice.

It would seem that if a person needs extra days to get a Doe then there must not be many Does. Here it would take about 15 minutes to get a doe not additional days.

In years past I was told Fayette County could only take Does under a MLD program, or at least that was what was in effect for the tiny lease next to the in Laws property every time the subject came up....Seen lots of Does everytime I've been down there year round. ...but the folks I've talked to agree that AR's are the only reason they have any deer to speak of and are hinky about changing the Rules now that they've got enough deer to see them commonly, including a TPW GW applicant who is a recent A&M grad with the appropriate degree, who lives around the corner from my in Laws house. and has done odd job handyman stuff for the in Laws.for the last 10+ years that he still has has a key to all the gates involved. Totally different situation from the Hill Country's over populations of critters, but thanks for the insightfull commrnent.
