Those here who know snakes spotted something immediately in the second picture, it's fixing to shed pretty soon. Yes, the skin above the 'pits' is already starting to turn loose and the 'eye caps' are evident. They tend to be a bit defensive when caught out in the open like that when their eyesight is impaired. It's an amazing thing to watch (shedding of skin) if you've never seen it. You would think they would have to rub it all off on things...but instead they simply move and contract their bodies until they slowly crawl out of the old skin. Sometimes leaving the old skin completely intact (just inside out). Very nice Pics.

That is a very interesting, and excellent, angle for that picture.

Leave them alone if they aren't bothering anything....better to relocate them than to kill them....Jes my ^^^^^^ Agreed. Too many snakes (of all kinds) are unnecessarily killed simply for being what they are. Now....I have NO issue at all dispatching snakes that are a threat to Humans, Pets, Livestock, etc...., but this is generally a matter of 'location' and not one of over population (there are exceptions of course). I.E. it doesn't make sense to have venomous snakes in the backyard with the kids, or around your house or out-buildings. But it also doesn't make sense to summarily kill them when they are hundreds of yards away from anything and not otherwise posing a threat. I believe it is incumbent upon all 'good' stewards of the land to try and maintain the ecological balance of their surroundings and to 'live and let live' as much as circumstance permits.

HWY_MAN you take the best pics / but please be careful / just remember a trip to the ER is going to be 30k to 100k depending on how many vials of snake venom For instance, a typical antivenom vial costs $1,500 to $2,200, but a snakebite requires between 20 and 25 vials to be neutralized. If you add these up, a man bitten in the US by a venomous snake would have to pay $30,000 in pharmacy costs alone And a lot of insurance will not cover the cost all it takes is one unseen snake to ruin your day. I will be wearing my snake boots 100% My step brother was following me in a sxs with no doors & rolled over what he thought was a stick and it flipped up in the cab - it was hanging from his jeans by one fang- no broken skin - but had to change underwear - sxs now has doors
