Made these two for a forum member with some materials that he supplied. Scales are spalted Box Elder with mosaic pins as requested by him.
Here is a link to his post about them.

What did the larger one used to be? Lots of pitting in that one, which just adds more character.

They look stout and sharp! Great work as usual!

The bigger one was a piece of a leaf spring that probably came from a seat of a horse drawn wagon. I wish I had taken pictures of them when he sent them to me. They had been in the ground for a very long time.

Some sure enough antique steel, brought back to life with a new purpose. I love it!

That pays respec to the first men that made it, and the next man that used it to make something else, useful.

Very nice as usual. Do you have any pics of the back of the sheaths? I always like to see them and how hey will attach to the belt or what ever.

Not these but the same design. Inside of the sheath is counterbored so the head of the brad dosen't rub against the knife.

Mike made the knives for me. I gave the file knife to my dad yesterday and was very shocked that Mike took the rusty old file and turned it into a beautiful knife. Three generations of my family have Mike C knives and we’ll pass them down as working heirlooms. While I don’t have a picture of the steel I do have a picture of another file I found with the file I sent Mike. I’ll always remember the times my dad and I spend metal detecting, junking or just hanging out but we now have keepsakes to remind us. Mike does outstanding work.

Someone mentioned the leaf spring knife looks stout. It is and I believe I could chop a tree down with the knife.

Mike how does it work with the pin selection? Do you keep them on hand or order as needed?

I make most of them but I can order pins if someone wants something special.
