Photo of an old country schoolhouse in Nacogdoches county I took as we passed through this weekend. A friend of mine said it was built in 1908 and abandoned in the ‘40s. I bet it was a show place in it day. Nothing like that out here, mostly 1 room school houses that today are used as barns, or in some cases community centers.

I wouldn't be surprised if my mother went to school there when she was a little girl. She was born in 1911 and lived in that area until she was around 10 when they moved to Appleby.
