Need a little help or info. I have a AR 10 built with Aero Precision upper and lower. Had a A2 stock on it and wanted to change to an adjustable style. Have a carbine length stock, tube and buffer. Purchased a LR 308 buffer spring. Assembled stock and now the bolt will not lock back on empty mag and appears bolt will not fully retract. What am I missing?

The buffer tube for an AR10 is a tad longer than the AR15.

Get on LaRue Tacticals website and order one of their carbine buffer tubes. Use the shorty buffer you ordered and maybe grab a Springco ORANGE spring to set it off right

There’s no difference.

Post a pic of your buffer.

There is a difference

I had exactly the same issue as the OP using a AR15 buffer tube

It’s not to say that all people will have the issue with the bolt carrier not traveling back far enough to engage the bolt catch but when it does happen the longer Carbins buffer tube is the key

There’s plenty of articles listing the common parts.

I know

Kind of depends what exactly he has, the longer receiver extension would probably get him rolling the quickest

No you should not use any AR15 or AR10 buffer or buffer springs in an LR308. While the LR308 uses the same tubes, buttstock shells and mounting equipment as the AR15, the buffer and buffer spring are LR308 specific. The AR15 or AR10 spring or buffer used in an LR308 can, and usually will, cause cycling problems.

That’s why I asked for a pic of his buffer. I think he’s using the wrong one.
