Got my first kill the other day. Was spot stalking all day with my bow but way too much brush and leaves on the ground couldnt get a clear shot so I brought out the 30-06. Lil 50lbs hog got in the way of my intended target, I'll take what I can get! Also ran into a cottonmouth walking around, almost crapped myself seeing it so close to me 😅. For sure it was a rush and found a new love for the art of hunting.

My thoughts also. Nice pig but looks like a common water snake. Way to long for cotton mouth.

Ah, may have to look into it then, the person who owned the land i was on said it was a cottonmouth so i just went with it lol. If its not a Copperhead or Diamond back then I'm clueless when it comes to snakes. Just know we were locked eyes and wouldn't take any chances.

Good job on the hog!

As for the snake, it does look pretty long and skinny for a water moccasin. However, the county biologist where I hunt suggested taking out rat snakes whenever possible because they're hard on native birds so good work all the same.

I have two unwritten rules:
1.
2.

I think you should incorporate some face paint. It will help with the stealth spot stalking. If you had proper face paint you wouldn’t have needed the ‘06 and probably could have just used a knife.
