Had mine done by performance diesel in Emory. 14 Duramax had a complete emissions delete and +50 tow tune. Has been VERY nice.

Whats a DEF delete?

A very hot exhaust filter, that eventually clogs and leaves you stranded. It’s about the same cost to delete as replace

DEF = Diesel exhaust fluid a mixture of 32.5% urea & 67.5% deionized water used in emissions control on newer Diesel engines. System can be deleted so you no longer need to use DEF.
Basically it is a system that injects DEF into the exhaust stream as an SCR that reduces NOx in diesel exhaust emissions.

DPF = Diesel particulate filter = a large filter 'muffler looking thing' with a very tight honeycomb interior that catches particulates/soot in exhaust stream.
During a DPF regeneration extra fuel is injected to raise the temp inside the filter to turn particulate/soot into ash, over time this clogs dpf.
Can be deleted to eliminate regeneration and the necessity of having the dpf professionally cleaned or replaced.

Will also require deletion/block off /re routing of the EGR system when the dpf is removed.

All require re programming / tuning / after market manipulation of the ECM/PCM so the engine will run without check engine lights, fuel derate/power reduction, going into fail safe / limp mode.

I have a 2016 Duramax with 100,842 miles on it sitting at James Woods right now that needs the DEF tank replaced due to the heater in the tank going out. Considering doing a delete but need to make the decision quick.

Did it myself. Wasn't that difficult. Biggest problem I had was deciding which tuner/tunes I was going to put on. Priced a few places and couldn't believe the cost.

Okay, sorry to be Debbie Downer, but I am always curious of how this affects emission testing. I would very much like to get rid of the junk on my RAM/Cummins, and out of warranty, so no issue there, but still hold off because of inspections. Thoughts?

You’ll have no trouble getting it inspected.

There is no emissions testing for Diesel engines in Tx,, yet.

In my county and surrounding counties emission testing is not required on diesel engines. To get a registration you need a safety inspection only.

If the inspector is doing their job, they have to do a "visual" inspection that that the dpf canister is still on there and the EGR is not blocked. I have not seen an issue where I am at but some have. If I come across one that is, I will just find another shop.

Asking for a friend, which tuner is the best for a 2014 super duty 6.7? Looking or a delete pipe also.

I didn't get the one with the fancy display, but just the regular tuner. If you call this shop, they are very helpful.

For my exhaust, I think it was the 4" flo pro with the biggest muffler - you will want something as it is loud without it if you got with an aftermarket exhaust.

I didn't remove my whole EGR, just got the No Limit EGR block off plates.
