Quote
Texas game wardens issued warnings and citations to 12 seafood restaurants, fish markets and wholesale commercial fish dealers in Tyler, Quitman and Longview during a recent two-day inspection operation, according to a news release from the Texas Parks and Wildlife department.
In all, about 60 citations and warnings were issued at about 50 establishments in East Texas for a range of commercial seafood health and safety-related violations, according to the agency.

I’m not saying this makes logical sense, but I tend to stay away from seafood unless I’m an hour or closer drive away from the ocean for several reasons, but that article is one.

It seems like every year they are busting people/establishments in east TX for some type of fish violations, Last year I think it was restaurants for selling/serving illegal freshwater fish bought from local lakes or rivers.

Why do trucks that carry fish have a sign that says carrying fish on the truck? Who cares.

Either state law or federal law, I can't remember. But it is a requirement.

Same here, if I didn't catch it, "it didn't happen" LOL

Back around 1980, a friend and I where dove hunting corp land on lake Whitney, we watched a group of guys walking a field (on corp land), they shot every bird they saw, cardinals, meadowlarks, sparrows, didn't matter.

I sat in the tree line watching as my friend ran up to a store to call the GW. Friend returned and about 30-45 minutes later 2 GW showed up. Ended up being a group they had busted before, said they run/work for Asian restaurants in the DFW area and use any meat they can find. Since that day I have never stepped into a place that serves Asian food.

That doesn't mean fish it's "Food Insure Safe Handling". It's on trucks that don't carry fish.

Seriously? I’ve asked several folks and a few drivers. None knew why it was there.

My understanding it is an outdated law that was written prior to refrigerated trucks, when the fish were still being iced down. Something about keeping the fish as fresh as possible. The signs were reminders to not delay the shipment.
