Bought the Sig Sauer Whiskey 3 4-12-42 from Cameralandny and can't be happier. It has the illuminated reticle dot and works awesome when shooting at pigs under a feeder green light at 75 yards. Sometimes at night, the reticle can get busy and hard to find the "X" in the scope. This model with the dot works perfect. Glass isn't the best, but well above entry level and does the job for what I am using. I run a couple guns with thermal as well, but some friends like the scope better. This is a great substitute and is cheap. On sale for $219.99 with no tax to Texas and free shipping.

Interesting comment about some friends liking the scope under the green light best. What about the scope was preferable to the thermal ?
At one time, I also used illuminated reticle scopes (EOTECH) under green light. When that was what I had, it’s what I used.. I ain’t bashing it at all...but my experience was somewhat different than your friends:
I found the restricted view with a scope under a green light allowed only a “one hog shot”. Hey, it worked and hogs died, one at a time. However, no follow up shots were available because the rest of the sounder scattered out of the light and thus safe. Also, with a green light, hogs seem to suddenly appear out of the blackness. Limited ability to scan... all before I bought a thermal.
Myself and buddies are hands down thermal scope addicted. Yup, a good thermal is expensive, but I can’t give any of my buddies my old green lights or night vision scope..until their next divorce !

Thermal is better without a doubt but the act of shooting at running hogs in pastures with cows in them is foolish. I prefer that hogs at night be shot in a "kill zone" where the possibility of hitting a cow is far less.

When sitting at a feeder at night waiting for hogs, thermal gets to hurting your eye if you are not used to them. They also can light up the box blind and give away your position. You sit in the blind, wait for the green light on feeder to light up and then point/shot with regular scope. I run cellular cameras on all my feeders, so I know when the hogs are showing up. We hunt accordingly.

Many situations the thermal is better, but not this one for me. Of course, we only shoot what we will clean and eat, so we usually just shot one.
