Seen 10 to 15 longbeards yesterday in the nice weather. This morning in the cooler weather and high winds, just 1. Not gobbling very much yesterday and only once on the roost this morning.
Good luck and Good Hunting!

Got a bird Saturday morning and should have bagged another Saturday afternoon. Not much gobbling after 8:30 or so Sunday. I think it’s still a little early where I hunt and the gobbling will pick up as more hens get bred and go to nest. The brush is still pretty bare. Persimmons are just starting to bud out. I don’t have a ton of birds on or near my place just yet and they typically start roaming a little more in April based on previous years of trail camera photos. Hogs are thicker than ever. Can’t help but wonder if it’s affecting turkey numbers.

Saw these birds on March 8 putting on a show in Cooke County. We also saw a nice group of gobblers fly down from the highline along 287 somewhere between Claude and Childress on our trip down for hog hunting.. Didn't expect to see them roosting on the high wire but not much else along there. Good luck folks, I might get to chase our merriam's this spring.
