I've eaten at the following:
Blacks Louie Muellers Kruez Smitty's Hays County Lulling Market Salt Lick
Other than Frankilin's what am I missing? Heading down that way in April and looking for something new.

Get you the TMBBQ Monthly app, it has all the top 50 places and honorable mentions on it as well. As you know Austin is becoming the area where you can throw a rock and it will hit a few bbq places on its way down.

Stiles Switch in Austin is a good one.
If you want to travel north a little bit, Miller's in Belton is pretty dang good. Their brisket, different types of sausage, their sides, and desserts...everything is good. They've transformed into kind of an "Austin ambiance" type place IMO though.

Stiles Switch & Franklin's in Austin, Louie Mueller in Taylor, there is a Cooper's in New Braunfels if you dont have time to hit Llano. I'm not a BBQ snob as Rudy's in just fine.

Valentinas is about a half mile from my house. Getting breakfast tacos from there as we speak. Its really good but go at an off hour or you will be waiting 30 mins before you even order. Their queso is fantastic.

My son lives in Austin and we've hit them all over the years; however, the one that stands out above them all is Valentina's. You won't be disappointed.

another vote for Stiles Switch, especially if you hit on Thursday when they have the smoked prime rib ... I have heard great things from several co-workers that are from S. Austin on Valentina's.

Austin - had a buddy bring some County Line bbq to a taste test we had with the following BBQ places: Luling's City Market, Kreuz, Smitty's and Blacks. It fell somewhere in the middle. So, if you liked the other places, and you are in Austin, maybe its worth a visit? We also had Franklins brisket that day...it was good, but not great. Super salty! None of us had is before that day, so not sure if that is their norm or not.

I like Franklin's & I think it deserves its high praise. But just this week, I had the best I ever bought at Burnet BBQ in Burnet. Hole-in-the-wall joint with no parking but GREAT BBQ brisket!

I agree with Valentina's and Stiles Switch, but don't sleep on Brotherton's in Pflugerville. Fantastic BBQ on it's own, but they also make KILLER BBQ sandwiches. Brisket grilled cheese is awesome as is the brisket cheese steak. Still have yet to try their Brisket Bahn Mi and Pesto Turkey.
