Here are a few pics from years past. I need to get back over to this property this spring and hunt a bit. These birds have been native to this property for over 90 years.
No high fences. We don't hunt zoos. Hunting free range, fair chase game for over 50 Years.

Those pictures remind me of a hunting trip to Nolan County about 25 years ago.
Sitting in an elevated box stand, I could see through binoculars a 55 gallon tripod feeder on the ranch due South of the one I was hunting. I watched the feeder go off, and a big gigantic blob looking kinda like the Loch Ness Monster came out of the Mesquites and went under the feeder.
It was about 100 Rio Grande Red Turkeys.

They can sure clean up the ground around a feeder!
Never been to a camping world. I prefer Dick's to be honest.

We used to have 800 acres in Goldthwaite (Mills County) and I never saw a place with so many turkey. Not unusual at all to see 50-75 birds fly down from their roosts in the morning. I was mostly interested in hunting Deer and Predators (no Feral Hogs back then), and just took Turkey for granted. Never thought there was anything difficult about Turkey Hunting as some folks propose. But maybe in a different setting they are a challenge.

Truly an awesome site to see as turkeys start to fly out of the roost. I was very careful one morning and was able to get into the blind without disturbing the turkeys roosting above me in the tall oaks. I got quite a show as they flew down one after another over my head till all 50 of them were in the field. It was a fantastic show.
