Several places require it now for training and boarding. Both of my dogs have it only because of this requirement

Just changed vets and two of my dogs were given that with the usual rabies and such.

Just had my pointer vaccinated last week. That was part of the regimen

I started doing it, due to bringing foster dogs into my home. Plus the ER vet 10 minutes from me had a case of it a couple of years ago.
With that said, I don't think there have been any cases in Texas this year.
If your dogs are boarded, go to a trainers, or around a lot of other dogs. It's probably worth getting the vaccination. If they are not, I'd pass on it.

Correction, was not part of the regimen of vaccinations
