Anyone tried this to prevent cactus needles, etc from flattening 4 wheeler tires? Thanks

Yes, it’s in all my small tires. But get Berryman instead. It’s better.

I've been using TireJect in the Mule and like it a lot better than slime. It's thinner so it doesn't cause the balancing problems. Not a flat yet.

I’ve been using Slime for, I guess, about 20 years. No complaints. And it’ll plug a big hole. I’ve told the story before, but it’s worth sharing again. A pain in the a__ neighbor drove up to the barn door while I was working on something, and blocked the door. His right rear tire was blowing air loudly. He said he ran over something as he got close to my gate, so he just pulled in to my place and saw me at the barn. The tire was now completely flat. I turned on the big air compressor, but I couldn’t get air in the tire as fast as it leaked out. I had to do something or this guy would never leave. We’d have put on the spare, but it was under the rear of his Avalanche and he didn’t know how to get it out, and he didn’t have the key or tool to lower it. Well...all I could think of was Slime. The hole was about the size of a 22 bullet, and I didn’t think Slime would plug it, but it was the only option. We jacked the tire up a bit, rotated it so the hole faced down, I pumped in a big bunch of Slime, and then put air in the tire. It hissed loudly, blew out some Slime, then the hissing slowly quit and the tire pressured up. Wow! I told him to go to town, about 10 miles and get the tire fixed or replaced, but he said he was driving on to Houston (140 miles). I couldn’t talk him out of it. I saw him the next weekend and he had been to Houston and back with that same slimed tire. A stupid decision, but the simple fact is that the Slime did a great job, and way more of a job than I would have guessed.

There may be better stuff, but Slime does work.

Make me want to put it in all my tires. How long does it last, and does it create a balance issue on the highway?

I only use it in ATVs and the Kubota side by side. I only used in the guys truck tire because that’s all I had. I’d expect balance issues in truck or auto road tires, but that’s just a guess.

Slime has been around a long time, so maybe the newer stuff is as good or even better, but I have not done any sort of comparison test. I have a lot of Slime, so I’ll stay with it for now.

I have used the Green Slime, Berryman's and Multi-Seal...Multi-Seal is the best hands down IME. It is the most expensive but it is all I used when I was hunting in that greasewood and mixed thorny brush in Trans Pecos. All of them will work fine for smaller holes or if the thorn is still in the tire, but Multi-Seal will seal some large punctures.

A buddy of mine recommended this to me prior to hunting season last year. I had never heard of it, but I'm sure glad he did. Our mule deer place has lots of cactus and mesquites, and for the first time in 15 years out there I did not have a flat. I'm sold on the stuff.
