I have read that Axis deer will displace native whitetails as they expand into new territory. I had a chance to observe some of that, in action, on Saturday morning. Before daylight, three Axis were at my feeder. Five whitetail does showed up and the Alpha whitetail immediately went on the attack. She ran all of the Axis away from the feeder. They tried to return, but Alpha was having none of it. All of the Axis disappeared into the brush. That's interesting. I've heard that axis does are much more protective over their fawns than whitetail.

IME the number of axis has to be 7 or more all at one time before the whitetails will be pushed out from the feeder.
