None of the big manufacturers do 100% inspections any longer, sampling is the current method.
It is much cheaper and having "Great Customer Service" for returns has replaced flawless products among consumers.
Nice of S&W to offer a rim recess gauge as an option to returning your rifle.

Had one like that years ago. Let them fix it and traded it off with full disclosure to the fella. Replaced it with a cmmg which has been excellent.
