I put in for NM again this year. I don't know why I put myself through the punishment with only 6% going to NR but here I am.... Tough not to with my proximity to great hunting. Regulations changed this year and now you have to buy a non refundable license. It'll be interesting if that holds anyone back from applying this first year. I'm 20 minutes from great dove hunting in NM so I buy the license anyway. What and where did you put in?

put in for

Ibex
Elk
MD
Pronghorn

I will put in for deer, elk, pronghorn and bear in CO. I don't expect to get anything and am stockpiling points. The only one I may draw is the bear for the Bosque del Oso SWA which has the highest bear density in the state.

I haven’t done it yet, but I will apply for Colorado elk, deer, and pronghorn. I don’t like the new small game license requirement for nonresidents, but that’s not holding me back from applying.

^^^ not cool they make you pay for a license you'll never use if you don't draw but it is what it is if you want to have a chance.

Just catching up to what most of the other states do - NR app cost extortion has risen to an art form in most western states.

I apply for sheep in nearly all states that offer a tag - annual cost has gone from about $400/yr since I started to about $1800/yr. That doesn’t count the tag costs many of them “borrow” for a few months.

I put in for a Montana "come home to hunt" tag. I used to live there and have a brother that lives there so I can hunt with him and an elk and deer tag cost me $550. Great deal, if I don't score with my longbow I can go back with rifle I believe.

Probably gonna but some PP in Wyoming and Colorado.

I have a decent chance of drawing a mule deer tag in Colorado for my unit.

Problem I’m dealing with, is if I accidentally draw then I’ll be in a pickle.

On the one hand, the past two years I’ve hunted there I’ve seen two 180”+ deer.

But on the other hand....I’m not 100% sure I wanna go

I guess I should put in and see where the chips fall

For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

Draw the tag and just go, you have nothing to loose.

Just the time and hassle of the trip.

Where I hunt its a minor expedition to get there, it isn't a get in the truck, go up there hunt and then come back. Its a full day in and a full day out moving gear. Last year I did have a blast though.

I don't want to draw then something happen and then not go....but next year I won't be able to go due to other commitments so its either this year or stay out of Colorado until 2021

Can one still draw a 2nd or 3rd season mule deer tag in CO with no points?

2nd season you can in several units but 3rd probably not gonna happen. Putting in as a group if possible can increase your odds.

Note this is what you could get draw year, application numbers could change

3rd season-14 different units. W/ zero pts
2nd season-20 different units w/zero pts

Some of those units have just touch of public some are over 80% public.

Few Great 2nd and 3rd choices in there that you can draw and get PP
