I was asked to share with anyone interested: Howdy, You have been invited to participate in this survey as a member of the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service email list. This study is designed to allow Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service to better understand hunter, landowner, and stakeholder opinions about wild pigs and management practices for the species. You will be asked a series of questions about your thoughts and opinions on the resource use, economic impacts, and management of wild pigs. The survey should only take about 30 minutes to complete. Your responses are voluntary. Your answers will be submitted confidentially and will not be linked to your name or address. No risks are expected to participants in the study. There are no sensitive questions in this survey that should cause discomfort. However, you can skip any question you do not wish to answer, or exit the survey at any point. If you have questions, complaints, or concerns about the project, you may contact the Human Research Protection Program at Texas A&M University by phone at (979)-458-4067, toll-free at 1-(855)-795- 8636, or by email at <mailto:irb@tamu.edu>. Please access the online survey by clicking on the link below: Human Dimensions of Wild Pigs Survey Human Dimensions of Wild PigsWe hope that you will take a few moments to help us to learn more about the human dimensions of wild pigs in Texas. Should you have any questions regarding this survey, or if you would like to respond to a paper copy of this questionnaire, please call or email Rachael Connally - we will be glad to assist you! You can reach Rachael by phone at (979)-583-2205 or by email at <mailto:rachael.connally@tamu.edu>. We hope that you will enjoy completing the questionnaire and the opportunity to share your thoughts and opinions on wild pigs. We look forward to receiving your responses. John M. Completed. Will the results of the survey and the conclusion of the study be made available to the public? If so, when and how can it be viewed?

I'd be curious to find out what the general public's view of "safe Lethal Toxicant" would be.

I spoke with the agent last night and she said that when the results are available she will share the information and links to the study with me.
I helped her set up a pig trap Friday and she was excited about catching a pig and being able to get as much information as possible from this survey. I told her that there was a lot of misinformation circulating about the "safe toxicants" and a few symposiums around the state my help clear up the confusion.

"safe toxicant"? ... no way. It's safe right up to the point where we discover it isn't safe! I find it very unlikely that there is ANYTHING that is solely 'toxic' to a single species, genus, or sub-genus. Highly unlikely....

That was my point to her, it needs to be demystified and explained in detail how and why it works.

I filled it out and mentioned I wasn't comfortable with any toxicants making their way into the food chain. Here is an article where using a "safe toxicant" ended up killing other wildlife - which is not OK - https://www.timesrecordnews.com/sto...eral-hog-poison-testing-texas/629868002/ Additionally, while hogs are a problem in my area, I do enjoy being able to hunt and eat them. The fun factor of each hunting trip would decrease if the hog population dropped to nothing. Love having game that I can chase year round without any restrictions. I was on a deer lease several years ago where the rancher made a huge effort to reduce the hog population. This was one of the few places where efforts were noticeable. I went from seeing hogs every other trip to not seeing any in a whole year. Took some of the fun out of my trips and made me less inclined to spend a weekend out there outside of deer season.

Very interesting survey. Interested to see the results as well.
I also put down that I was against using a "safe toxicant" because there are always unforeseen/ unintended consequences.
I also put that I honestly try to kill every pig I see but I would also be sad if they were totally eradicated. Pigs let me hunt all year round and I would lose some of my "quality of life" as they put it, if they were gone.

Just completed the survey. As others have said I am very suspicious of allowing “safe toxins” to be used. The term is an oxymoron. Most health problems with commonly used chemicals are not discovered until they are used by a large population over a long period of time. Feeding toxins to free ranging animals used by many people for food is a terrible idea. Additionally, Many of these animals would ingest toxins on one property and die on someone else’s property.
All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing. Edmund Burke
