For you experienced in 3Gun I finally got my safariland ELS belt setup holding my G34 in comptac holster with Ben Steoger BOSS hanger, Taccom 4 shell holder for my slugs, 2 8 up Taccom shell holders, 2 safariland pistol mag carrier with Glock mags with +5 Dawson Precision base pads, and safariland AR mag holder with 30 round PMag. Any advice on the setup? Should I move stuff or leave it and just try it? Thanks in advance.

How much is a set up like that? Minus the pistol.
I had my first private pistol lesson over the weekend and now I kind of want to try a pistol match, then I could see that progressing into a 3 gun.

You got to set it up for you, that means trial and error. It took me a solid 2 years to get everything I thought I needed for my duty belt and to get it positioned where I wanted it, now 13 years later it fits like a glove and I can go to everything by muscle memory

You got a great rig, my suggestion is practice drawing and dryfireing, reloading the shotgun to make sure that your shell holdsrs are in the best place for you and so you can figure out if you want to load strong hand or weak hand. Also realize you may be going prone with the rifle, and may need to adjust the things on the front of the belt a little for that, i am not saying to move them to side or anything though, just minor stuff. Biggest thing is practice reloading the shotgun, most of the rest you wont know what you dont know till after you shoot a couple of matches. Also make sure you holster tension is tight enough that you can run etc. without your hand on the gun and without the gun bouncing out of the holster.

Throw your gear in the truck and head to a match.
Oh, and read the rules for whatever club you’re going to go to.
The secret to a long life is to try not to shorten it.

"I had my first private pistol lesson over the weekend and now I kind of want to try a pistol match, then I could see that progressing into a 3 gun."
Ninety percent of pistol shooting is mental.
One of the most important parts of becoming a decent pistol shooter is dry firing.
The best book on pistol shooting is "The Pistol Shooter's Treasury" by Gil Hebard. One of the best writers in the book is Bill Blankenship.
You can learn a lot from the book.

Thanks guys for the help, like Tactical Cowboy said, I need to just load up and go shoot.
Wade that makes a lot of sense just using it will help me figure out where I need everything on my belt and have muscle memory getting to it.
RJH1, thanks for the advice. The shell carriers pop right off the front if I need to go prone hopefully the stage where needing to go prone I won't need the shotgun carriers at all. If I do have to have the shell carriers on hopefully they don't get in the way too much but might have to adjust them. I definitely need to practice my shotgun loading skills. I did a few test runs last night and will be using strong hand with shotgun turned upside down over my right shoulder. Seems to be the most comfortable way for me to do it. Plus my left hand doesn't articulate stuff very well. I can load pistol mags and AR mags with my left hand no problem probably because of muscle memory, but loading the shot gun just seemed alien to me.
Scott here is a run of what I bought for the setup minus pistol and mags and the prices I paid at the time, not sure what they are now.
Safariland ELS KIT for Belt System X4 $27.89/Each = $111.56 Safariland 030 Buckleless Lined Web Underbelt X1 $14.95 Safariland ELS 032 Competition Belt,Black Basket Weave X1 $38.49 Dawson Precision +5 Basepad HiCap for Glock X4 $32.49/Each = $129.96 Comp-Tac International Belt Holster with Ben Stoeger BOSS offset drop hanger X1 $116.06 Safariland 771 Magazine Pouch Adjustable with ELS X3 $19.54/Each = $58.62 Safariland 774 Magazine Pouch AR-15 with ELS X1 $22.09 Taccom Sport Series 8S2 Shotshell Ammunition Carrier X2 $33.20/Each = $66.40 Taccom Duaload 4UP Shotshell Ammunition Carrier X1 $16.20
Think that pretty much covers the whole setup for a grand total of holy [censored] $574.33. Really shouldn't have added all that up LOL.

Ha no biggy, I always knew in the back of my mind it was a lot. I’ve used it in a few carbine matches and pistol matches but no 3gun matches yet.

If you go to match like Cresson you may need more shotgun caddys and pistol mag pouch. I've run into stages you need +30 shotgun shells to make the run. I'd throw another AR mag pouch in rear also

You're over thinking it. Just get out there an run what you have. Learn what you like and make changes as necessary.
