Ever since we lost Swick’s bbq in Groesbeck, I’ve had to go 20 miles for my BBQ fix. Near Mexia is Kirby’s BBQ, now renamed as KK’s BBQ, and they are very good. Still...20 miles. Just recently a new BBQ called King’s is in Groesbeck. Yesterday, being a bit bored, I went to KK’s and got a bbq chopped beef sandwich and then stopped at King’s for their bbq chopped beef version. Sat down and ate em. Both were great, and I’ll give the first prize to King’s, for slightly better flavor.

As good as both were, they are still short of 407BBQ, but if you are driving through Groesbeck you can get good bbq there now. Thank goodness...

Update. Their BBQ chopped beef sandwich is great. But, a fellow has to try other stuff on the menu, so I got a pound of sliced brisket and got a Loaded Baked Potato with chopped beef. Both were terrific. That’s darn good BBQ.

It’s right on Main Street (Hwy 14), so you can slide to a stop at the wide curb, jump out, get the sandwich and be rolling quickly.
