I have some family members I’ve just recently introduced to deer hunting. I need some recommendations on a decent place to lease per day. Not per trophy basis. Anyone have some good experiences or know of some good places to try this year that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg with decent deer population?

Doesn't work this way in Texas. Lease or outfitter or public land.

There are a few folks who day lease. Check with Chambers of Commerce of the town you're considering.

Never heard of that. Nor have I ever heard of what you talking about. I have never heard a landowner say “man, I’m gonna set up a really nice lease, get all the local deer coming by my feeders, & then just charge somebody for a day hunt, so that way it doesn’t cost them an arm & a leg”.
If you wanna provide more laughs, tell us how much you expect to pay for this kinda deal.
Any place that would want to charge just a day fee isn’t going to have any deer on it.

Craiglist is always a good place to look for some real bargains with good places to hunt.

You may find a bargain but most likely you are going to get what you pay for.

Some ranches that are MLD will offer cheap doe/meat hunts towards the end of the season.

If you leave out the "lease per day" part you will probably have some responses that will accomodate what you want to do.

best to look under the guides/outfitter section ... I have seen on several different Facebook sites for late season doe/meat hunts but most are a 2 day minimum

Most HF hunts are day hunts but might cost both arms and legs depending on color of ear tag.

I think you and these family members need to look for a season lease of your own. Just a thought.

Taking does on a day hunt is always an option. This is what i do since deer antlers hold little interest for me now.

Any place that would want to charge just a day fee isn’t going to have any deer on it. This type of lease is common. Blinds, feeders, lodging etc are available as a day lease option. The land I own was a day lease operation. The adjoining ranch sells weekend hunts during the final weeks of the season. He is booked by returning, satisfied successful hunters. Rates $200/day? Could be more/less. I've never day leased or let, so I'm not sure of costs. Papalote

I know of 2 different places, one in San Saba and one in Llano that are strictly a DAY Lease. I've hunted both, early in the season - late in the season and I've always taken home the allotment the ranch allowed.

If it's like some day leases I know of you don't want to know the answer

Any place that would want to charge just a day fee isn’t going to have any deer on it. There are a lot of places or ranches that sell day hunts for deer. Most if not all even have lodging. What you will not find is cheap. Probably the min. I've seen is starting out about $1500 and up from there. Last time I looked, which has been a while, a typical 8 point will run about $2500. I don't know if that equals a arm and a leg???

If it don't have to be whitetail, look for some place that has exotics and go on a doe hunt. Probably cost you a few hundred per person, maybe less if you take several people, and everyone will probably get a shot at an animal. The other plus is that there is no seasons on exotics so that is one less thing to worry about. Look on Facebook, there are several places , but get references, cause there are scammers in everything. Good luck with your search

I suppose I misunderstood the OP. I assumed he meant someone’s lease for a day, not a day hunt. My mistake.

I used to do some day lease hunting (multiple days) in Llano and Mason back 30+ year ago on some ranches (bow hunt ranches only) and the price was right for decent game and opportunities. Nowadays, day hunts need a lot more research and references checked but opportunities are out there.
