Bought a Browning A bolt a few years back shoots great but I wanted to put a different scope on it tried backing screws out of the rings but they were so tight I was afraid I would snap screws into. Could they be locktighted and if so how do you remove ? I wanted to replace rings and bases because I bought a 50 mil objective but I don't want to break them off in bases(gun itself)

Like Falcon said, heat would break loose any locktite. Also could spray some good penetrating oil and let it sit a while.

Like they said heat will get out the screws if they locktite was used on them. I have never used locktite on screws that clamp them around the scope, Base screws yes but not up on the rings. I bought a used rifle that the clamp screws were in with locktite and wound up using a dremel to cut them and remoe the scope.I did not want to apply that much heat to a nice scope.

Loctite makes a removal solvent but it is about $30 for a 2 ounce bottle. It is X-NMS 768. I agree heat will also break it loose just be really careful.

This gun looks and shoots so well I may just stick this scope on a Ruger 270 I have I sure don't want to wreck a good combo

Someone on the forum would probably be willing to help you.... where do you live?
Never been to a camping world. I prefer Dick's to be honest.

I use locktite Blue and have no problem removing screws later. Blue is meant to be removable "require normal disassembly with standard hand tools". The problem is when people use locktite Red on gun parts that will later need to be taken apart. Red is meant to be permanent. But may be removed with heat if your lucky. "For disassembly, heat parts up to 482°F (250°C) and separate parts while hot."

Pulled old Bushnell off Ruger with what I thought was the same size objective but Leupold with 50 mil won't fit guess l need to call Ruger and see what it takes to mount this scope. Unless y'all have ran into the same problem in the past?

Heat is the way to go. Use a pencil tip soldering iron against the screw head. One like this: https://www.walmart.com/ip/Hiltex-4...1dd23-bab-1691d92452b8a0&athena=true

Don't heat it up to 480 degrees. That's for the High Temp I think. The regular red breaks loose at around 320 I think? If they are screwed into something aluminum then It might be seized and you will need a impact tool? Post a picture if you can.

They make ammo specifically for hunting for a reason!

If you have to go cheap and heat.... use a screwdriver that is a perfect fit, and disposable... set the screw driver in the screw, and apply the heat through the shaft of the screwdriver
