Got these bad boys @ HEB priced @ 7.99 lb. and labeled as Choice. I say they look more like Prime. What say you.

That looks pretty close to prime to me. I'd certainly snag those if I found for $7.99!

I have gotten some labeled choice steaks like that form HEB before.

The great meat judge of the Oxner will be along shortly to tell us what it really is.

Someone wrote that there were different unannounced grades of either. I'd eat the snot out of all those. I'm having part of a leftover one on my nachos tonight.

Those look on the “high end of choice” but, but, the specks of fat or marble in prime will be smaller and more dense in the meat. From prime you could go “prime certified angus beef.” And higher from there go, prime 30 day aged certified angus beef. Either way, those look great.

HEB likes to sell better cuts at a lower cost. Their packer briskets are 5 times better than Kroger prime briskets. Just a better all around grocery.

The Kroger’s around me are absolute trash when it comes to comparing their fresh produce and meat counter to HEB.

Plus their seafood smells like a damn bait shop.

I gave up on Kroger when the butcher told me that they could not remove the silk skin from a prime tenderloin because of the high cost of beef.

I never really think to look and read label if choice vs prime, I just look at price and what they look like, and those do look nice.

This is pretty much what I do as well. I look at the meat counter almost every time I go in a grocery store since that is what I did for 26 years. I look at he quality first and then the price. I really didn`t need any steaks but these were hard to turn down at this price.

All the good choice steaks were gone by the time I got there today. Came home with a couple prime NY strips instead.
