I have a QAD rest and I cannot keep the felt on the drop away part. I got frustrated and just removed it. I cannot see or feel a difference in the arrow flight with or without, but now I can hear the arrow shaft rub a little on the draw. Do I need to replace the felt before hunting season next year? Is that slight rubbing noise enough to startle animals? I mean sitting in a tree stand you hear limbs rubbing in the wind and such. Is there something better to replace it with other than the 15 dollar QAD kit? I try and shoot every weekend and usually get 20 or so arrows on the felt before it starts to move a little then after 40 arrows its useless and effecting arrow flight.

Something doesn't sound right, I have around 300 or more shots on this one piece of felt on my rest.

I shot the same rest (QAD HDx) a couple years before I put the felt on it. Got rid of the little scratching sound with a little string wax on the rest. Only worked for a few shots but when hunting you only need a shot or two.

Not sure why your felt is not staying in place but I would want to address the why. Usually it is fletching making contact with the rest. Could also be someone used wax like I have been doing and not clean it off before putting the felt on.

You have something wrong. I have been shooting the same QAD for 8 years now and have replaced the felt once.

I had a "Y" shaped drop away rest several years ago (can't remember the name) that my fletching was hitting and peeling back the felt. Bow shop couldn't figure it out so they replaced it with a different rest.

Sometimes bows shoot too fast?

Clean it with alcohol, then install the felt.

Yes you need the felt to eliminate that noise when drawing on an animal. Something was done wrong if the felt isnt staying in place. Mine has been in place for 10 years now. No telling how many shots have been taken with that bow......but into the thousands for sure.

Mine kept coming off too so I just keep a few of the baby band aids handy and replace them after a couple of dozen shots. You do need to put something on the rest to reduce that "squeak" sound when you draw your arrow. May not seem very loud till you hunt a morning with 0 wind and quiet as a church mouse.

Use acetone to remove the residual adhesive. Then clean with denatured alcohol. Allow to dry for at least ten minutes. Apply new felt.

I work hard, drink a little and hunt when I can.
