Hey yall, I'm looking to get more into coyote hunting this year, but don't have a call. Do yall recommend mouth or electric? And what are some good budget-friendly options out there that aren't junk? Thanks for the input

I would go with hand calls if you want something inexpensive and gives you a quality sound. The Mini Blaster is my favorite because it takes very little wind to operate and you can make a wide variety of sounds on it. Mark Zepp makes several nice calls that are not well known down here. Good Luck and Adios, Gary

I’ve conpeletey gotten away from using an e-call because I have much better luck with hand call and it’s one less thing for me to carry in the field. Also I don’t have to worry about batteries. I started out learning with what I could find at academy and cabelas such as the primos, haydels, and knight and Hale. I still have some of them but I mainly use Red River Calls. I’ve got most of their line but I really like the dirty buns, extreme rabbit, and the bandit. I’ve also got a mini blaster. Any call that can produce multiple sounds such as distress and coyote vocals, I’m a fan of.

There is a reason that hand calls are more effective than electronics. I wrote an article for THE JOURNAL OF THE TEXAS TROPHY HUNTER magazine that will be out in the next edition explaining the difference. I have been working on a new electronic caller for almost five years that will be the greatest innovation in electronic calling since the 50's. Adios, Gary
