Apparently Oregon pd asked for help destroying some guns with benchmade tools. Said police department posted it online.

Hilarity ensues...

Their Facebook and insta is getting torched with comments

I'm not going to throw away my benchmade but I'm certainly not going to buy anymore. They have shot themselves in the foot.

The donations to the anti-gun lobby are a deal breaker for me. I have two of their knives, but I'll never buy another one.

20 or so years ago I worked in a steel mill. They melted hundreds of guns and knives down for local PDs. You gonna boycott angle iron, flat bar, c-channel, I beams, steel plate, too? Most of the weapons that are destroyed by PDs were used in crimes. The weapons were slated for destruction no matter who did it. I’m sure Benchmade felt as though they were doing the local boys a favor, not assulting our gun rights.

I did not know Benchmade is a democratic donor. I won’t be buying any more benchmade knives.

Speaking of Democratic donors...Off topic but Incase you didn’t know...

Why don’t they auction them like they do vehicles, homes etc? They ain’t melting those down and I’m pretty sure they were used to commit a crime with or in.

Seems like they could sure help pay some bills with the $

I don't own a benchmade knife and had no intention of buying one because I am happy with another brand of knives I own so I have no dog in the fight. But I do think it would be in Benchmade's interest for the company or the current owner to immediately make a significant donation to a firearm related charity or foundation or to a pro 2nd amendment candidate and continue to do so on an annual basis. Otherwise they probably should just stop lying and publicly own it.

The company owners history of individual donations. There are probably more using yet more versions of names or other family members.

I wonder which employee posted that in the first place, not thinking of the ramifications. Man if I owned a company and some idiot pulled that stunt because they’re idiots, I don’t know what I’d do!

You call gun makers and see if you can work a deal. Buy a Benchmade knife get a $100 gift certificate towards "XYZ" firearms company toward the purchase of a new rifle, pistol, or shotgun.

Watch "Flint Town". That's exactly what the Police chief did. Cataloged all the firearms from the evidence room, and went through an FFL to auction them off.

I don’t get what you’re saying. I just meant that in this world, perception is absolutely 100% reality. Did an employee just jump the gun and post that without explaining well enough up front, out of ignorance, causing all the bashing before further explanation could be put out?

What I'm saying is, if an employee caused this fire, that is how the boss puts out the fire.

I own one Binchmade knife and won't buy another. The police dept. in Oregon City posted the photos of the Benchmade happily and willingly destroying firearms which then lead into people looking into where they sent their political donations. While they claim to be pro 2nd Amendment in their Facebook post their money has gone to support fervently anti-gun politicians.
Now we know. Now we can make informed decisions on where we spend our money and it won't be with their company.

I don't know about their demo connections or contributions, but I would not be one to condemn them over cutting up some firearms. If a court orders the guns cut up, it has to be done. I did it at one time in my old gun shop years ago, for the local PD. The PD would have liked to keep some of the guns for their own use within the dept,, but the court gave them no choice in the matter. Now the same PD takes the court ordered guns to a foundry and they put them under a hammer mill to destroy them.
We would all like to see confiscated guns put back into circulation, but the laws will just not allow it. The cutting up of firearms is in itself is nothing to downtalk Benchmade over over as they are simply helping the local PD as they have the tools handy and the means to do the job.

I don’t have such a big problem with them cutting up guns ordered by the court. My issue is finding out they
support anti gun politicians. That disqualifies them in my book from getting any more of my business.
