A while back we set some traps out for coyotes. It’s a coil spring jaw trap. The next morning checked it and had 3 what looked like bobcat tracks, one on each side and one in front of the trap. We only have time to let the traps hunt for one maybe 2 nights consecutively so ended up having to pull the set with no catch.

Be interested to hear any tips or criticisms on the set and any input on how long yal leave traps set. Have thought about leaving them set from Sunday evening till we return Friday evening but think it might be too long without checking.

Just need some step sticks to guide them right to the pan. Bigger sticks along the side and one right in front of the jaws to guide them to step on the pan.

We have had a few catches, I think so far we have caught 3 bobcats and 1 coyote along with a few coons, a skunk and a few rabbits that have dumb luck hoped in the wrong spot.

In general I think if we were able to run them for more than a day or two at a time we would have more success. Still have a lot to learn im sure so try to take advantage of the opportunities.

Thanks for the responses.
