Who was it here that did stabilizing? Or maybe I donít even know if thatís whatís needed, per day. Iím cleaning up one of my grandfatherís planes and the wood knob and handle are intact, but oooooooold, a little cracked and I fear potentially brittle. Do yíall think if I were to basically soak in some clear resin in a vacuum, then clean them up, sand them back to the original shape and perhaps polish them up, that would save the handles from falling apart?

From looking at the pic, the crack in the knob wouldn't be sealed with the stabilizing process used on our knife scales. I'd guess that it could be submersed in epoxy under vacuum then have the excess epoxy cleaned off before it's totally cured. That might seal the crack.
