I have a 2004 Yamaha Kodiak 400 that needs carb and rear axle work. Anybody have a good recommendation of where to go? Prefer not to use a "retail" shop.
I dont know what we're put on this earth to do but we're here damn it!

To save a little $$$ - you might try replacing the carb yourself. I have a 2006 Polaris Sportsman 500 that was having issues with the carb leaking and losing power at higher RPMs. Found a carb on Amazon for $46 and swapped it out. Runs like a champ now. I would've spent $300 - $500 at a local shop or dealer to replace it.

3D Powersports in Lewisville. I've never had an ATV worked on there but I had extremely good customer service on some jet skis that I purchased from them. I would go back if I needed to.

I have a close friend in Denton. He has worked on a few members ATV’s/UTV’s
Never been to a camping world. I prefer Dick's to be honest.

To save a little $$$ - you might try replacing the carb yourself. I have a 2006 Polaris Sportsman 500 that was having issues with the carb leaking and losing power at higher RPMs. Found a carb on Amazon for $46 and swapped it out. Runs like a champ now. I would've spent $300 - $500 at a local shop or dealer to replace it. fyi, I have a Polaris Xpress and when the carb starts to leak it means the neddle and seat need to be replaced. Normally the first thing I notice is that it floods if you leave the gas on and gets hard to start. Rebuild kit is a little cheaper than a whole carb. There is a guy in Rowlett that works on ATVs out of his garage. Todd Kerby 972-896-1002. He replaced a chain, starter with gear and belt on mine for $350

I found a guy in the Justin, Tx area that works on ATV and Dirtbikes. I have a 2006 Suzuki Eiger and asked for a tune up from him. Very happy with the work he did. PM me for his contact info and I'll be happy to share it. I found him on Facebook Marketplace and don't think he has a website.

Be careful with the Chinese replacement carbs and rebuild kits.
We have ran thru a bunch of them that have sub-standard float needle valves.
The problem is the part is not brass (as most original parts are) and the aluminum is not anodized or protected in any way.
If the motor sits for any length of time, the water in the alcohol from humidity will attack the bare aluminum part and corrode it very quickly causing it to stick.

What I don't understand is why does a carb on my 2006 Suzuki cost $500 and the carb on similar model of Polaris I have cost little over a hundred?
