All of our locations are birdless. ID’d two loan birds on 4 different tracts. Looking for one more wild bird hunting before it closes. Anyone have a lead on a place to hunt that has some birds will be appreciated. I’ve got dogs, Polaris, 3 hunters. Reasonable rate for day hunt or weekend hunt. PM here or text 903.452.7574.

Good luck. Haven't read a single Texas success story this year. We've pointed a few coveys but never shot any.

Good luck. Haven't read a single Texas success story this year. We've pointed a few coveys but never shot any. We've had some good 10+ covey mornings down here in south Texas. This past weekend had 7 Friday morning then 7 more that evening, 9 and 9 Saturday, and 13 Sunday morning. To the original poster sorry I don't know of anything.

We are finding 6 coveys/day in SE Runnels.
I do not know of any day leases.

We worked the dogs on 4 separate tracts in Texas no points walked up 2 lone males. Hunted about 10 tracts in SE Kansas and hit about 7 coveys in 2 days. Looking for a place to work the dogs. Let me know if you have a lead.

The only part of Texas that has any bird this year is south. We were finding 5-6 coveys of Blues a day in west Tx this year and that’s tough. My after deer season place in Throckmorton county has produced 2-3 coveys a day, on a good day. I’ve killed three Bobs in Texas this year. A pup I broke a few months ago pointed a 12 bird covey last weekend and I killed one on the covey rise and one single he pointed. He retrieved both. Another pup pointed an 8 bird covey and I killed one over her and she retrieved. We killed no bird over any of the older dogs. We’ve got more good dogs this year than we’ve ever had and no bird. I may not get on a lease next year and just travel to where there’s bird. I’ll also get rid of some nice dogs next year if we have another dry spring and a bird drowning fall. I just can’t justify having all the dog power for walk in public hunting. I’d only day lease in south Tx if I were you.

So what’s the idea why the numbers were so low. I don’t recall any unusual weather

Dry winter and spring over 100 days no rain in Snyder and Spur area. Had too many big rains in areas during summer.

So what’s the idea why the numbers were so low. I don’t recall any unusual weather Last winter and spring and early summer was very dry. There no salad for quail until late also so dry insect crop way down Big rains September through January if a late hatch it did not survive Talking about rolling plains If enough brood stock survives we could have a comeback In my opinion things are looking positive
Tigger If it isn't white it is not a birddog.
KC Lying is lying. Don't bitch about one doing it and condone another. That's called hypocrisy. _________________

You will get to work your dogs and get plenty of shooting. My problem was a front blew in and we were hunting in 30 to 40 mph + winds.
Look forward to some regular hunting and some that might be a little different than what you usually expect. I can promise you that you
will see a lot of wild birds. Let me know what you think when you get back. I drove 12 hours to get there and if it was a little closer I would
go again this weekend. Good Luck!

Good luck. Haven't read a single Texas success story this year. We've pointed a few coveys but never shot any. Exact same here. Heard of guys driving 8-12 hours out of state to find birds.
