Looking to upgrade from a 6 man cabelas Alaska Guide to a canvas wall tent and stove. Planning on Elk hunt this fall in Wyoming any recommendations are appreciated.

I have been looking at the Kodiak and the Davis wall tent. I do like the traditional wall tent but I like the simplicity of the Kodiak. If you need a stove I don't think the Kodiak would work for you

My direct supervisor found a used one on Craigslist. Stove included. I could probably get you a few pics and even a model name. I don’t remember what he payed but he was excited and used it in Colorado on an Elk hunt.

Davis Tent in Denver. They are great. Get the frame brackets and cut your own frame from conduit.
We set up our 12x14 with frame and rain fly and everything inside in about 30-45 minutes.
The rain fly really helps let the snow slide right off.
I also picked up some 5x15 canvas painting drop cloths and hang them along the walls inside from the frame. Makes a double wall and is much warmer in cold weather.
First pic shows 16-18 of snow that fell in one night, tapped the inside of the roof and it slid right off.
You should get a window opposite the door for ventilation in warm weather.
A good friend made the wood stove and it is great.

We bought our tent form Davis through a summer sale that included the tent, fly and frame brackets for a great price. Look into one this summer or call them now .
Not hard to set up , just takes a couple of times to learn some small things.
Staked down right our tent has withstood 60 mph winds in western Wyoming. The guy lines were a hummin' but the tent didn't move.

If you are not hiking it in... I found a deal in a surplus military tent. It’s 18x18

That almost looks like a postcard.

Thanks for the posts guys, I have been looking a Davis also. Any regrets on not getting the awning and are you happy with the size? I have my eye on the 14x17 for 3 to 4 of us.

I love my 14x16 Davis Wall tent. A stove can make them super hot inside though.

I like to have a floor attached to the walls. I use the Kodiak Deluxe flex bow 10x14. I have had it with stand 40-50 mile per hour winds. If it starts to rain and water is shedding down hill you don't have to worry about the gear inside washing away. We use little buddy heaters and co2 detectors and of coarse the proper sleeping gear. going on 4 years with it now.

Do wish we had an awning but got Kelty Noah's tarp for that this year.
Our 12x14 is perfect for 2 hunters and we have had 4 in it, 3 works ok with not too huge cots. 4 was too many. 14x16 would be great for 3-4 hunters.
We cook in our tent too so that takes up room.
Sod cloth keeps water under tarps for a floor.

Check out their winter sale right now: https://www.davistent.com/product/winter-special/

They have some packages that include a stove.

As someone who used the Cabela's Bighorn tent in the past and now use a 12 x 14 Davis wall tent with internal frame, in my mind there is no comparison. The canvas tent, if properly care for, will last much longer than a synthetic. After a couple setup/take down runs it really is a breeze. I can have camp completely setup under an hour, take down usually a little longer. We have slept as many as four plus a wood stove, though space was really tight and we had a cargo trailer for cooking/eating.

Only negatives I that come to mind is the space required for setup and transportation. If you are a mobile hunter, the setup and take down time can eat into hunting time too.
