I am proud of him. He is a heck of a good kid. And I am blessed to be his Dad.
He will have a hard time shooting a buck better than this. Free range, no feeders, just huntin' Just curious. Whereabouts? We need the story. Looks like a persimmon tree behind y'all. Hill country?

It's almost a crime to let a kid that young shoot a deer that nice.
Hope he doesn't get too spoiled. Next year tell him he has to take a doe before he can take a buck.

I have friends with kids that have harvested awesome deer for their first hunts as well. The following year the kids are looking for bigger and better and as we all know, it typically don't. You have to wade through the lean years too. A couple of buddies have worked hard to make sure their kids harvest does, spikes, or management bucks to start. Of course I tell them its just their way of saving the big ones for themselves. LOL

Deer was killed on our home place East of Brady, Tx. Not his first deer, and I'm sure he will kill more. He kills does also, but we usually don't take pics before making deer sausage.
Land was settled by my family, and hopefully this young man will own it someday.
Thank ya'll for all of the kind words, and encouragement.
He wants to go elk hunting now. Mama said he isn't missing school for that!

Nice looking buck! Congrats! Definitely going to have to work on mom for that elk hunt next! I'm currently trying to work on my wife for an elk as well...not looking too good just yet, but persistence is key!
