Hunting boots depend on what kind of hunting you plan on doing and where. Hunting boots in the Marsh are not the same as hunting boots in the mountains.

As Top Jimmy said, it depends on what type of hunting you're doing and where. For the coldest days, I like something that will breath (fabric boot vs rubber/neoprene). For wet hunting I wear a muck boot, but if I'm walking very much my feet will sweat.
I've found brand isn't as important as how they're worn/used.
I like space. I experimented this year and never wore more than one pair of socks (not counting sock liner). In hunting three states as far north as Ohio, my feet never got cold and I found the extra air space more beneficial than the additional socks.
I like ventilation. In dry conditions I'll wear a lace-up fabric boot over the insulated rubber boot.
I like dry. Each day when I finish hunting I'll place my boots on a boot dryer. This dries the days moisture from sweat and helps a lot.
I like metal treestands. A barrier between your boots and a metal tree stand will help you minimize heat loss through conduction via metal stand.
One thing I have found that helps sitting in a treestand for prolonged periods is the Arctic Shield boot insulators. They can be bought for $20-30 and are well worth it.

As said it depends.
If your moving then high content thinsulate is fine
If you sitting in below freezing weather than a pair of Sorels with a thick (1/2" or more) felt liner has no competition
Trust me I have hunted at 10,000 feet in snow and the sorels have never failed me

For warm feet, follow our lead. 10,000 people in SE Idaho and Western Wyoming wear Sorels all winter long!!!

I've got a pair of muck "wetlands" boots and they are a little hot for the summer months but perfect around deer season. Very comfortable and waterproof.

Chippewas are my main hunting boots! If temps are around or below freezing I will use my Redhead insulated boots.

I always got mucks but wore them out to fast.. got a pair of Alpha Pro Lacrosse boots 3 years ago and they still going strong. They are as comfy as the mucks but have a protective layer on them from tearing on fence or sticks etc.. This is actually the first pair of any shoe that has lasted me longer than a year

Alpha Pro Lacrosse for me as well. I've had them for 2 years now and I've put them through hell and back. Really comfortable as well. Makes me feel like I'm walking on clouds up here in the rocky hills of Arkansas.
You may all go to hell and I will go to Texas! -Davy Crocket This is duck hunting...shirts and shoes are optional

A cheap pair of rubber boots from Walmart. I’m a close up hunter and survived the worlds best friendly and enemy tracking dogs so I use what leaves the least amount of scent.
When I get to the stand I take them off and add my thick rag socks on top and I’m warm to -30 because there is nothing to conduct the cold nor suck the heat from my feet.

A good brand will last you for many years. I don't think the brand is as big a deal as the fit. I have a pair of Irish Setters that was the best money i have ever spent.

After many years wearing insulated lace-up boots, I found my feet stayed warmer in rubber knee boots with uppers that fit snugly around my ankles and chins. I'm convinced it's because they retain more body heat in these areas that is otherwise lost with shorter, lace-up boots. But I strongly agree with those who would say there are places where you don't want rubber knee boots. In terms of making rubber boots last, it's all in how you treat them in the off season. Every boot that I own that has rubber is sprayed with the stuff below before I store them away in a closet away from sunlight and heat. LaCrosse Rubber Conditioning Spray

Seems like I hunt in shorts about half the time. I either wear snake boots or work boots. If you can call the work boots, I’ve been in sales for the last 20 plus years, my buddies let me know that on a regular basis.
Thanks, Billy
