Momma gave me permission to buy a new tractor. I hay off my sons place 2 miles away and its a hassle moving hay from his place to mine. Im going to leave my old Massey 231 at his place. I am buying a new John Deere 5045E with loader and Bale Spike. Went to the Ft Worth Stock Show and found the John Deere with zero down and zero interest for 5 years hard to pass up. Looked at the other dealers and they could not compare. I used to laugh at that over priced green paint. No more Congrats end of the day it’s just paint color, it’s the dealer support that really makes the difference

Pshot - congrats! You made a good decision. When I was shopping I looked and almost pulled trigger on that exact model. I ended up orange, but came down to negotiations with a specific dealer. I would have been just as happy with a green tractor. And yes, 0/0 is pretty compelling. Good luck and happy tractoring!

There are at least 3 times the Deere dealers compared to anyone else.

IMO all you have to do is go look at what is in the field where people are using it for their sole source of income. Very rarely do you see anything other than a JD.

Was the told by local JD dealer here, that any JD tractor less than 75 hp is a Yanmar, (foreign) with JD paint and sheet metal. Lots of people have them in the area, most spend more time in shop than on the farm working.....

Largest tractor dealership chain in the US is Titian and they are a case IH dealer. Mahindra is the largest tractor company in the world, they just don’t have a 120+ hp offering in the US yet

CaseIH is pretty big up in northern OK.

Darn you guys! Now I want a new tractor. Nothing wrong with my Mahindra 59 Hp, except the paint on the hood is mega faded. But, I still want a new one now.

Thanks for the input. I don't see it getting too abused. The old MF231 only has 824 hrs on it since I bought it new in 1995. My granddaughter is real excited that her daddy is getting Papas tractor so she can get frequent rides. She's four so probably has to wait a few years to drive herself

They get those numbers from the large sales Mahindra does in China and India. The US and other countries still buy more of the other brands..

I know, it was for reference only that JD isn’t as dominant as prescribed. The sub 100 tractor market is all over the place in the US, the row tractor market is a mix of Case, JD, NH and Massy. The south east are starting you use the bigger kubotas but they have a long way to go since they are capped under 175hp. .

We had these. still american made at the time I believe. Easier to work on and don’t need a PhD in electronics to use. Lol, it took a full minute on the clutch to get in reverse, then you could get in any gear. 12 forward and 4 reverse if I remember. Did have an am/FM that got one station.

I bought a new Mahindra 3550 HST a few months back. The Mahindra seemed to be the most bang for the buck. Along with being one heavy stout tractor. Also I don’t have add the dep or def or whatever that Deisel piss is.

How did they get around using DEF?

How did they get around using DEF? From what little I know, they dropped about 30 million in R&D for emissions. They have much more advanced emissions some of which is fairly simple how they get there. I don’t have to worry about some filter that heats up once you park it, like some of the barn burners as they call them lol. The Mahindra I have is one hell of a tractor. I could have bought green or orange but because of DEF as one reason I didn’t even seriously look other than walking around the lot.
Thanks, Billy
