Saw bobcat in back yard of mother's house in Richardson near UTD. 3rd night caught coon. 5th night caught coyote. Bobcat or chupacabra next.

We've got a Possum that I need to trap. Dang thing is eating all of the food that my wife feeds her cats. I wonder how many times I'll catch one of her cats before I get the Possum.

Shake the cage really good before you let them out and you shouldn't catch them but once......

where did you release the coyote? frisco?

I do eventually release them in the Frisco area. For a couple of weeks though I wear jogging clothes and headphones and run by the cage and jab the yote with a sharp stick. Once it starts getting aggressive, I will release near a jogging trail. Everyone needs a hobby.

That is better than what I would do. I would kill and skin them and dry their hides using salt. Whne finished, mount on some old barn wood and hang on the wall.

I'd suggest that you start using dowel rods instead of sharp sticks. The dowel rods will give them a version of "blunt force trauma" instead of the more piercing wounds that a sharp stick will provide. But you do have the right idea; it's just technique!

That's funny! I have a family of coons that are living under my storage trailer, time to start trapping.

Hah, that takes me back.

I grew up in Austin and in the late 70's fur prices were very good. This was before the first big building booms and on the outskirts of NW Hills where we lived...the Cedar Brakes and unimproved properties backed right up to peoples homes. Everyone had positively huge Raccoons raiding garbage cans or in some cases folks were even feeding them.

In any case...we rightly determined that we could live trap some of the Coons from these wooded areas. Sure enough..the Coons were easy to catch and late in the winter were prime and pretty much all of them #1 Coons. So....$25.00-$27.00 per cased out coon greatly augmented our Beer & Girls money.

Those Coons were exceedingly fat and tough to skin, but prices were good and well worth the effort.

I went spotlighting one night in 1980 on a family hog operation in Coleman County. Killed 9 fat coons in and around the hog buildings. Fur trader paid me $257 for all 9 - unskinned. I was 14 years old and that is the richest I have ever felt.

That must have been a city slicker coyote or a pretty hungry one. Back in the old days I trapped a lot and never caught a coyote. I was always told you needed live bait to catch a coyote in a live trap. I also never caught a house cat but I did catch my neighbors dog a time or two. And before you release that coyote do the world a favor and put some lead between it's eyes.
