Joe it looks like your new to the forum so ill offer a little advise. Give everyone a little info of what youre looking for and it may help. A couple of real important ones would be budget and area of the state. Countless others like what game wanted, place to yourselves or willing to join others, year round access, lodging preferred, Trophy minded or if its brown its down, etc etc etc.

At some point in life its time to quit chasing the pot of gold and just enjoy the rainbow. FR

Sorry for not being clear, Live 10 miles east of Denton would like to stay within 2 hours if possible. We would like to hunt for deer and hogs. I would like to stay at $1,500 per gun don't know if that is fair or not. Acreage I'm open I'm use to 88 acres in Wisconsin for 3 hunters but everything I see in Texas is a crazy amount of land. I will take any advice from you guys I appreciate it.

if you're in Denton, look for lease in OKlahoma near Red River , cheaper than Texas for sure

welcome

Cost is going to be relative to proximity to major cities, quality of game and amount of access to the property.

Land values have gone up substantially, and taxes are based on values. Leasing has become more expensive because of this.

A good lease in your price range is very rare today. What you must understand is demand is very high for fairly priced leases. They do not have to call you. You have to stay vigilant checking your resources and be ready to move with cash when you see something that is fairly priced with a good hunting history. You have to call them and be first in line.

I would suggest you scouting the area you would like to hunt by contacting the local town chamber of commerce for a list of landowners leasing. Also check with the feed stores and ask if you can post on their bulletin board. Same thing with the local cattle and livestock auctions. For what you can pay expect limited access for the hunting season only and a few trips to prepare for the upcoming season. If you want year around access to hunt hogs etc.....expect to pay at least $2500 per hunter. If you want year round access with true potential for consistent opportunities at trophy animals expect to pay $3000 a gun minimum up to $4500.

Like PP said, double your price. I hope you realize also that you’ll wanna feed year round, which will also cost about an extra $1,000.

Deer hunters are $0.10/dozen. You gotta get out & press some flesh & be ready to pounce on a deal.

Get in your car, drive to oklahoma, stop at feed stores, gas stations, diners, ask around, knock on doors, feel the area.
Internet is not the answer.
