The mount would be for a hunting rifle so I’d like to keep the weight down to something reasonable. Return to zero is very important and I’m willing to pay what it takes to achieve good results. Suggestions are greatly welcomed.

Never tried the Spurh but I hear great things about them. They run $495, the othe 2 mentioned above are a 1/4 of that price and function perfectly

I have a Bobro QD. Don't take it on and off that often but does return to zero when I do.

I have an American Defense Manufacturing, ADM, qd mount for my thermal. I switch the scope between rifles and it has always returned to zero for me so far.

I have a Bobro, Primary Arms, and Burris qd mounts. The Borbro is higher quality and a unique design that doesn't require any adjustments to fit different rails. I have a Spuhr mount too, but it's not a qd and it's a whole other level of quality compared to any other mount I've tried.

I run ADM on everything from red dots to scopes to my thermal. They return to zero every time unless I do something stupid like turn the tension nut LOL. Which is almost fool proof the way they're built but I can bubby anything up LOL.

I take my thermal on and off probably 10 times a night when hog hunting. It returns to zero no problem.

All that have been mentioned so far are good to go though. Larue is another you might want to look into. I prefer the ADM to Larue though.

LaRue

They are the lightest and have the most choices for height and ring placement.

They will also automatically enter you in their monthly drawing for an "ultimate upper kit" worth 800.00.

I didn't know about the drawing until I won last month.

I have 3 BoBro QD mounts with over 3 years use on them. They always return to zero and I've had zero problems with them.

I used to buy "QD" mounts too, until I figured out how silly and unnecessary it was. There is no need to buy a heavier, more complicated mount with moving levers and gadgets. Get yourself a good solid unimount and a $30 wheeler fat wrench and go to town. A Badger or Nightforce unimount will return to zero like a champ if you torque it the same every time. Hell, you can probably do the same thing with a quality set of scope rings too.

Personally, I have a ReallyRightStuff uniblock and it is the most beautiful piece of scope mounting artwork I've ever laid eyes on. The base screws and ring caps both call for 15 in/lb and it's solid as a damned rock. I got a deal on a used Seekonk wrench and had it set for that. It never leaves my pack. I have taken my optic on and off the rifle a dozen times for different things, always went back to zero just fine. I did try out a Spuhr for a spell. Good mount, but I prefer the RRS mount, and it's $100 cheaper (and more beautiful haha)

I’ll second everything Royal said, I have several ADM mounts and one Laure. They all work well and retain zero when returned to the weapon.

be cautious with vertically split rings if you're dialing with your scope, it could have a negative impact on how your scope tracks.
