Moving to Texas literally right now. In a hotel for the night in NC.
Girl turns 10 on the 9th.
She asked for a party at the range. She's never been to the range and only ever shot bb and pellet guns with very close adult supervision.
I'm probably not gonna give her a party at the range but she has a .22 LR she's never shot and I'll be danged if I am gonna let her birthday pass without getting her to a range. Probably daddy daughter day at the range with bday party elsewhere that night.
So is there a range in the DFW area that will allow pop cans or other reactive targets for fun shooting?

Congrats on moving to the greatest state in the union!
You'd probably have to find a private range to pop cants or reactive targets. The public ones I've been to in DFW were pretty strict and all were paper only.
Based on the number of baby boys my family has had in the past couple of years... odds are my wife and I will have a daughter. That'd be my dream to have my daughter want to have a party at a range.

no range will allow reactive targets for pop cans in the DFW area that I know of.... only approved 'paper' targets

What about kids age 10? No ranges near my former home in NC will allow kids under 12.
Even if it's paper at 25 yards indoors, I'll take what I can get. If paper only, at least kid friendly will do!

Not sure there is an age limit. My daughter got her first deer rifle at 10 (6.5 creedmore) and we took it to Alpine i FW and no one asked her what her age was.

The gun range I went to the most when I lived in DFW was in Garland. Minimum age is 5 according to the web site.
I got my first rifle (a .22) when I was 7 and had a .243 by the time I was 10. Great to get kids into shooting early so that safety is ingrained in their heads.
Apart from gun safety, the most important exercise my father taught me was how to not flinch. He wouldn't let me see if he loaded the rifle and had me pull the trigger. Did this on many occasions. Really made me conscious at a young age of how bad flinching is. Turned me into a pretty good shooter and I still thank him for that.

Getting her on a range in Texas should not be a problem.

If you can't find a range that will do it, would air-soft be an alternative? The big airsoft place in Houston that my son goes to has parties all the time and provides all the gear.
Thanks, Rich
