I'm no expert, but I thought I saw one south of Sheffield, then I got to looking in a book and it was probably a snipe. They are very similar I think.

Unfortunately I believe that is a snipe. Woodcock have a golden brown chest and side while the snipe typically have the whiteish with spotted or stripped look. Beautiful picture though.
