I get together with Matt and Dustin just about every year and we go hunting. This year we had a lot of fun along with our buddy Darrell who agreed to keep everybody on point. Temps were in the 20s and 30s over the weekend and to our surprise, there were plenty of hogs out.

FYI, may not be safe for work. One hog sort of came apart due to her injuries...

Wow! Quite a productive weekend.

I have two unwritten rules:

2.

That hog was more than “leaking”.

She was experiencing an all out eruption

That's quite a haul!

Curious - what types of crops do you find hogs congregating around?

Have about 12 acres of oats planted. Despite hogs showing up on the game cams within yards of 4 different plots - there are zero signs they are touching it. No rooting at all. All the hogs I've taken on this property have been under corn feeders. Debating on planting an acre or two of barley to see if that helps concentrate them.

The hogs may be enjoying the corn more than the sprouts. Keep in mind that aside from rooting, you need to look for droppings and tracks. Hogs will browse sprouts like deer. You likely won't notice damage if they are browsing.

Most of my places are winter wheat.

Good to know. There were a number of roots in the areas before planting, but zero in the food plots since planting. Figured they root where they eat - but it makes sense they would just browse like deer.

This is from earlier in the week. I shot hogs on 2 properties, both in winter wheat. There is a little bit of rooting on both properties, but the hogs seem mostly satisfied with the new sprouts. The deer love it as well, along with the cattle.

I get caught up at work some nights and I was watching the video when at 4:51 horn honk had me looking around to see if we had somebody at the back door. I work in a free standing ER at nights. Then I realized the honk came from your editing. Nice work and good shooting. I would need some editing some times too. up
